Serena Cheong is an associate with a focus on plaintiff-side class action and civil sexual assault litigation. She has represented clients before all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as at the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal.
Serena joined Hammerco as an articled student in 2022 and was called to the bar in 2023. She practices general civil litigation, with a focus on class actions, civil sexual assault, and personal injury law. Her practice is entirely plaintiff-focused and she is committed to client-centred, trauma-informed advocacy both inside and outside of the courtroom. Serena also speaks conversational Cantonese and works with clients in both English and Cantonese.
In addition to her busy practice, Serena is a director of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (British Columbia) and a regular volunteer with Access Pro Bono. She is also the current Editor-in-Chief of Silk Threads, a legal journal published by FACL BC dedicated to uplifting underrepresented voices in the Asian-Canadian community.
In her spare time, Serena “enjoys” watching the Vancouver Canucks, growing her ever-expanding collection of board games, and reading the latest sci-fi or historical fiction novel. She is also an avid musical theatre goer.
