On October 24, 2018, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (“Cathay Pacific”) announced a major data breach affecting over 9 million passengers.

As a result of this data breach, private information including full names, passport numbers, credit card numbers, and other sensitive data, pertaining to Cathay Pacific’s passengers was exposed including that of passengers from Canada.

Hammerco Lawyers, Partner Kevin McLaren and Associate, Alexia Majidi held the airline giant Cathay Pacific accountable and were successful in securing a seven figure settlement. The triumph in this class action was particularly impressive as the team was able to efficiently secure an award, despite the unprecedented challenges the airline industry was facing during the pandemic.
